Chitwan Or Heart of the jungle is famous as one of the famous wildlife-viewing national parks in Asia and was declared a UNESCO world heritage Site in 1984. Located in the terai lo land of Nepal; it a 20-minute flight from Kathmandu international airport. The park is famous for its success in the conservation of rare endangered Greater one-horned rhinoceros. 605 Spices of animals are found in Chitwan. It is located in Chitwan  District in the Narayani Zone of southern Nepal. Meghauli village touches over 25 km of the borders of the park and is situated on the banks of the Rapti and Narayani river. Situated at 172 km from Kathmandu, Meghauli is in the western part of Chitwan district. Meghauli is one of the richest villages in Chitwan in terms of wildlife, different cultures and sports is located in the adjacent of Chitwan National Park. Meghauli is the western entrance of the Chitwan National Park that attracts thousands of visitors every year to explore its rich flora and fauna.

The huge 25 km long community forest is another eye-catching object of Meghauli. The new concept had been materialized for the tourism development in Meghauli. National park entrance gate, elephant stable, view tower, eco-park. National crocodile breeding pond and medicinal herbal farming in the buffer zone are the main attractions in the Meghauli. It is also a very interesting place to learn about the local indigenous Tharu people as the village is a very well preserved an example of a traditional settlement. After a boat trip ends at the Golaghat, the confluence of Narayani and Rapti River can see the sunset and a view of the Himalayas. Meghauli has a good balance between human settlement and wildlife. A  national park consists of tropical  & subtropical forests with sal forest covering about 80 percent of areas. Grassland covers about 12 percent of the park. There are more than 68 types of grasses, more than 68species of mammals,55 species of amphibians & reptiles,546 species of birds &120 species of fish. The endangered fauna found in the park includes the one-horned Rhinoceros, Gaur Bison, Royal Bengal Tiger, wild Elephant, Four-horned Antelope, python, Bengal florican, lesser florican, Gaint Hornbills, Gharial etc…

Access:

Chitwan, Meghauli is easily assessed from Kathmandu, both by road(146 km) or by flight

By Road: The drive from Kathmandu to Meghauli (approximately 5 hours) takes you through the middle hills of Nepal and along with Trisuli river with raft community of Nepal. By Air: A short 20 min flight from Kathmandu to Bharatpur Airport, followed by 24 kms\45 min of Drive to the lodge. Or Direct flight to Meghauli Airport of 25 min and 5 min drive to lodge.
